Hello to the World!

Hello to one and all! I'll introduce myself as Alexander Preston (not my real name, which remains classified information). I am starting this blog to officially kick off the marketing campaign for my first novel, Harvest of Prey, the link to which (and summary of) can be found below for interested buyers:

A team of naturalists find themselves facing a nightmare beyond anything they have ever known - and the product of unspeakable evil. Philip Caster, a former Green Beret now working as a zoologist, leads an international team in Indonesia whose revolutionary new program may spell salvation for the endangered Sumatran tiger. They will release six artificially-conceived cubs into the wild, accompanied by their surrogate mothers. The effort will prove the feasibility of in vitro breeding as a new tool against extinction. But its success is overshadowed by the sudden emergence of a horror beyond reckoning. Something has been unleashed in the forests of Sumatra. A life-form never meant to walk the earth. One that claims humanity as its only prey. As death unfolds around them, Caster and his circle of friends must uncover the truth behind an abomination: the instrument of dark and all-too-human forces pursuing a twisted ideological vision. Their creation has killed already - and their plans will consume millions more.

Now that we have that shameless piece of commercialism out of the way, I'll talk about what will actually make this blog somewhat interesting. I'll start with a few personal details so we can get to know each other. I'm a happily married, 26-year-old father of one currently living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I was originally a History Major, switched to Business Administration and have spent the past three years slowly but surely clawing my way out of the banking industry (still there, but making progress!) to pursue my re-discovered childhood dream of becoming a writer.

This will be a somewhat eclectic blog (I have lots of interests but am a genuine authority in virtually none of them), touching at various times on history, science, technology, philosophy, literature, entertainment, etc - basically the elements I'll be exploring in various ways through my writing. And, lest I neglect the most important element of all, everything will be interpreted through the lens of what I consider a Biblical worldview. I'll be up front in stating that I am a firm believer in Christ as well as a literal Six Day Creation. I further believe the Bible to be the infallible, inspired Word of God and hold to a literal application of its teachings.

With that being said, I will not be using this blog as a proselytizing platform. That's something to be pursued by other means in a more appropriate forum. My posts here will be dedicated to my writing, which will naturally reflect who I am as a person - including my deepest values and beliefs. For a writer to be truly effective - even if he wishes to communicate an underlying message - his primary purpose must be a love for his craft. I will be a storyteller first - a teacher second. Wonder must always precede discovery.

I invite you all to join me on a journey through the mysteries of imagination. See you next post!
